Donald Button, CPA
Don started this practice with Zig Zigler in mind "Help enough people get what they want and you will get what you want". Don has always enjoyed working with small businesses. While in high school, he worked in the family dry cleaning business, where he began to learn how small businesses operate. Don realized very early that small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the area that he wanted to serve.
Prior to starting the accounting firm, Don worked six years with Deloitte & Touche and eight years as Client Services Director for Todd Consulting, where he also achieved the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy. Don is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the National Association of Small Business Accountants.
When Don isn’t meeting with clients and filing tax returns, he is relaxing at the lake, driving his 60th anniversary Corvette, or chasing his two boxers around the backyard.

Donald Nicholas Button, CPA
Nick joined the firm in mid-2019 after leaving Ernst & Young as a Senior Accountant in the financial services group, specializing in Wealth and Asset Management. Prior to EY, he was at another big four firm, PwC, for two years as an associate in financial services and income tax provisions.
Nick graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Master’s of Accounting and a Bachelor’s of Accounting. He completed his CPA licensing while in graduate school and passed the series 65 exam in November 2021. It is his goal to use his experience from the Big Four accounting firms to offer clients more financial options in managing their wealth and assets.
When Nick isn’t crunching numbers, he is playing with his French bulldogs Oatmeal, Woodford, and Olivia, restoring his bright orange ‘74 Volkswagen camper bus and red ‘71 Alfa Romeo GTV, or planning the next travel adventure with his wife Ashley.
Jacob Button
Jake joined the firm in 2018 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in economics. He is currently studying for the enrolled agent exam. With the completion of this exam, Jake will better understand what the Internal Revenue Service looks for on the tax return which will add to our extensive experience dealing with notices and preventing them in the future.
When Jake isn’t responding to notices or completing financials, you can find him doing CrossFit, laughing with friends on the latest video game, or waxing his racing green Jaguar F-Type.
Kristen McLean
Kristen is our lovely office assistant. She greets clients, answers the phones, and organizes our client’s documents. She’s a jack of all trades so if you have any questions, need to drop off or pick up documents, or schedule a meeting, just give her a call.
Paw Ye
Paw is our accounting assistant and a student at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She is an accounting major with aspirations of becoming a CPA. We’re excited to have her on our team and she’s very knowledgeable, so if you have any questions about your accounting, please feel free to ask her.
Marelis O’Brien
Marelis is our payroll specialist and helps clients with all of the steps of the payroll process. From set up to paycheck, she can get you up and going in no time. If you have any questions or need additional information on payroll, please reach out to Marelis and she’ll get you up to speed.
Hay Htoo
Hay is the newest member of our firm. She is an accounting assistant and an accounting major at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Hay is working closely with Paw as they continue their progress towards becoming CPAs. If you have any tax questions, she will be glad to help!
